Current Needs
Dear Rocky Run Parents,
Rocky Run PTA NEEDS YOU!! We have the following open board positions for the next school year. Because our school only consists of two grades, we really rely on new volunteers stepping in. Please consider sharing your talent and enthusiasm in helping us make this a great year for all our children. If one job seems like too much you can always share it with a friend.
Please contact Elizabeth Nelson (nelsone@alum.mit.edu) if you are interested in chairing any of these positions.
- Minority Achievement- acts as liaison to the state and county PTAs and other organizations in regard to minority achievement issues. Helps parents increase their awareness of the programs available for minority achievement, including attending CPMSAC meetings and providing feedback to the RR board.
- Newsletter Editor- solicit and assemble PTA input for the Rocky Run Ramble. Work with school office to publish newsletter, tentatively scheduled to be issued 4 times during the school year.
- Publicity- helps publicize PTA events. Includes sending photos and articles to local newspapers.
- Reflections Coordinator- coordinates the PTA Reflections program. Includes working with county and state PTA Reflections committees.
The following (board) positions act as RRMSPTA representatives to critical community organizations:
- Fairfax County Council PTA Rep (FCCPTA)-Acts as RRPTA liaison with the county PTA. Legislative Rep- acts as liaison to the state PTA to keep the board/membership informed of legislative issues.
- Chantilly Coalition Rep- acts as RRPTA liaison with the Chantilly Coalition. Attends meetings to bring back information to the PTA board.
Currently not a board position but a VERY important job:
- Newsletter Delivery Coordinator- delivers copies of newsletter to Centreville post office for families not currently enrolled in electronic distribution system.
